Zidane: Myself and Ronaldo want the same thing

Reports have persisted over the difference in views Zinedine Zidane has encountered with Cristiano Ronaldo, but the Real Madrid coach has assured that they’re both simply pushing for success.

After substituting the Portuguese winger when leading Las Palmas in the weekend game that Los Blancos eventually drew, Ronaldo’s frustrations were clear to see.

“Every now and then anger is normal, all players are unhappy when taken off and I made the decision for the good of the player,” the coach told reporters.

“We’ve spoken about it with the rest of the squad, and you have to live with it.

“I’m not stupid, and he is intelligent, we’re both here for the same thing.”

Facing Borussia Dortmund in their biggest Champions League test of the group stage, Real come up against a side in top form.

“We know exactly where we play and against which team, but we are Real Madrid and we will always try to win every game.”

“The draws have not generated any doubt in my mind, these things happen but nobody likes losing four points in two games.”

Missing Casemiro for the match, the Frenchman finds himself in a hard place if he wishes to continue his rotation policy for the other members of his first XI.

“I do not like comparisons, although Casemiro is an important player,” said Zidane.

“We have enough players to replace him, although no exactly in his position.

“Rotation is an idea I have as when a player doesn’t play and you suddenly need him, it’s not right, so you give him minutes so that he’s ready. It’s important but I’m no fool, every time I put out the best team.”
