Hearts of Oak boss Kenichi Yastuhashi insists that the poor state of pitches at various centres is one of the major reasons why the Ghana Premier League is touted by many as unattractive compared to European football.
The Japanese manager, who took over at the Accra-based team last October, believes the quality of the league will improve if players are offered better pitches.
“The pitches are not helping to promote the league,” Yastuhashi told Graphic Sports.
“We can’t play the way we want to play and while our people (Ghanaians) watch the English Premier League, the Bundesliga and the La Liga, I think they will take a leaf from them.
“The reason why these players can’t play well is because the pitches are not good.
“The league is competitive but to improve the quality of the game, the pitches must become better,” he added.
Hearts will play Inter Allies on artificial turf next weekend at the Tema Sports Stadium.
