‘Winning AFCON will erase memories of Brazil 2014’

Former Black Stars player, Augustine Arhinful says if Ghana wins this year’s edition of the Africa Cup Nations in Equatorial Guinea, it will erase the bad memories of Ghana’s 2014 World Cup campaign in Brazil.
He however said there is a lot of work to be done for the success of the team; therefore, all hands should be on deck for the team to excel in Equatorial Guinea.
Arhinful made this comment in an interview with sportscrusader.com where he confirmed his appointment as one of Ghana’s three scouts for the AFCON.
He said there is one goal for the team, which is to win the 2015 AFCON. He stressed that winning the AFCON is the only way to make Ghanaians rally behind the team again.
Arhinful stated that his role as a scout would be to look out for the strengths and weakness of Ghana’s opponents, their style of play and transition from defense to midfield and to attack.
‘We as scouts after analyzing the opposition team will then inform the coach on how to approach each of Ghana’s game in the group stages.
He said they met with Avram Grant last Saturday and he outlined what he expects from them and they will schedule a meeting with the FA within the week to know the line of action.
He mentioned that the trio; himself together with former captain of the Black Stars, C. K Akonnor and Ibrahim Tanko of University of Winneba met and agreed that C.K will scout for South Africa, Tanko takes Senegal while he takes Algeria.
