Abdul Majeed Waris’ hopes of playing a part in Ghana’s African Cup of Nation campaign appear to have been dashed after he picked up an injury whiles playing for his club Trabzonspor in the Turkish top flight league.
The injury according to his former team mate David Accam is a big blow. Accam is however confident that the 24 year old striker will return with a bang.
“I know Waris very well and I know he is a strong player who will come back stronger than he was”.
“It is sad that he has been injured but that is normal in football, our profession is a contact game and so when some of these things happen you just have to take it in good faith”.
Waris’ absence from the squad is expected to pave way for Ghana coach Avram Grant to name Crystal Palace striker Kwesi Appiah as a replacement for the former right to dream Academy talisman in the final 23 man squad for the tournament.
