Wa All Stars accussed of match fixing

New Edubiase striker, Prince Antwi has alleged that his side was involved in a fixed game against Wa All Stars in the first round.

The Wa lads earned a 2-1 victory over the 2012 FA Cup champions at the Wa Park on match day 5 of the Ghana Premier League and again on edged them 0-1 on Sunday at New Edubiase in the second round to register a double over them to boost their title ambition.

Prince Antwi, who plays for New Edubiase United has accused Wa All Stars of getting involved in a match of convenience against his side.

“Whiles the game was ongoing, we received news that Kwesi Nyantakyi has instructed as play a game of convenience against Wa All Stars, so we should let them win the game. In that game, most of our key players were not fielded, including me.

“Wa All Stars were awarded a penalty, but we drew level before the news came for us to allow them to beat us. Our first choice goalkeeper, Ben Mensah was substituted, while Shaibu Malik, Samad was also pulled out of the game.

“I was shocked that Wa All Stars didn’t reciprocate what we did for them in the first round by ensuring we beat them,”

Responding to the allegation, a Wa All Stars management member has rubbished the claims made by Prince Antwi.

“We have no idea of what the player said, Wa All Stars never played a fixed match with New Edubiase United,”

Meanwhile, the Ethics Committee of the Ghana Football Association has confirmed that they have received the tape record of the allegation levelled by the New Edubiase United, so in due course, the player will be invited to appear before them for questioning.
