Asante Kotoko registered three straight wins in the ongoing First Capital Plus Premier League for the first time when they defeated All Stars by 3-1 at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, Kumasi on Wednesday.
The league champions scored their three goals through Dauda Mohammed, Ahmed Toure and Obed Owusu, with Kwaku Asuandze getting the lone goal for the visitors.
Wa All Stars started the game on a very good note, creating some decent chances, but failed to take the lead. Kotoko did not waste much time to also threaten the goal area of Wa All Stars, but also missed the chances that came their way.
Kotoko after the first 6 minutes seized control of the game and the new kid on the block for the Porcupine Warriors, Dauda Mohammed drew the first blood of the game, when he finished off Obed Owusu’s assist in the 11 minute.
The home team could have doubled their lead, however poor finishing denied the champions, the chances that presented themselves.
Dauda Mohammed, the goal scorer for Kotoko was stretched off the pitch, after he was fouled by a player from the opposing team and was replaced by Ahmed Toure the leading scorer in the league for the club, before the end of the first half.
Wa All Stars drew level with just 2 minutes into the 2 half through Kwaku Asuandze’s volley to catch goalkeeper, Ofori Antwi off-guard.
Ahmed Toure, who was quite in the first half after coming on, announced his presence in the second half by connecting Jackson Owusu’s inswing to restore Kotoko’s lead in the 56 minute.
Obed Owusu sealed the doom of the Wa lads in the 65 minute, when he scored from a rebound, after goalkeeper Baba Musa failed to grab Ahmed Toure’s shot.
The former Berekum Chelsea skipper could have had a brace on the evening, but he squandered a glaring through ball from Ahmed Toure to let the game end 3-1.
Obed Owusu was voted the man of the match of the game.
Asante Kotoko per this victory have won three straight league games for the first time in the ongoing league: 1-0 win over Ashgold fc and 2-1 victory against Hears of Oak fc, before today’s walloping of Wa All Stars.
