Cristiano Ronaldo deserves to win his third Ballon d’Or trophy this season, Lucas Vazquez said on Saturday.
The 25-year-old joined the Real Madrid training camp in Montreal on Thursday, and he told reporters that the Portuguese forward makes life easier for his teammates.
“I don’t think there is any doubt today, Cristiano Ronaldo deserves it more than anybody, and hopefully he gets it again,” he said.
“Playing with him makes things much easier – many times I have given him a poor pass, and he takes it anyways.”
The 31-year-old scored 51 goals for Real Madrid last season and won both the Champions League and the European Championship.
Ronaldo won the Ballon d’Or in 2013 and 2014, but finished second to Lionel Messi last year.
After making 32 appearances in his first season with the Real Madrid first team, Vazquez also spoke about what being a part of the most successful team in European club history means to him.
“We are expected to win every game, every tournament,” he said.
“It is something that Madrid fans are accustomed to, and we must fight for everything.”
The winger converted his penalty during the Champions League final against Atletico Madrid, a moment that he said he will never forget.
“I was focused on scoring and on giving the team some confidence by scoring first,” he explained.
“I was happy when I scored, and even happier when we won the trophy.”
