Algeria star Sofiane Feghouli has been given the green light to face Real Madrid in the first game of the year and will delay his arrival in Les Fennecs camp for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations.
On 4th January, the Algerian international will turn out in an attempt to beat the current league leaders.
Valencia’s request to the Algerian Football Federation has yielded its fruits and the winger will be allowed to report for international duty late on 5th January, making him available for Valencia’s home game against Real Madrid.
The Algerian Federation’s president, Mohamed Raouraoua and the country’s national coach, Christian Gorcouff agreed to Valencia’s request because they are already set to lose their player for at least one month, and allowing him to join up with the squad a couple of days later will not have any adverse effects on its preparation.
Feghouli is one of Algeria’s biggest stars and after reaching the last sixteen at this summer’s World Cup, his country is pinning its hopes on him helping them win the African Cup of Nations for the first time since 1990.
