J.E Sarpong, manager of Ebusua Dwarfs, says his side’s 1-0 defeat in the opening league game to newcomers Dreams FC was as a result of his players’ underrating their opponents.
A Johnson Owusu’s second half goal was enough for the visitors to silence a fully-packed Robert Mensah Stadium, after which local supporters vented their frustration on the coach.
“We were over-confident and underrated the strength of Dreams FC. This is because they are newcomers and [my players thought] we’ve been in the system for long and because we won our zone in the division one, all were rosy,” Sarpong told Starrfmonline.
“It was the first game I’ve lost and that’s football. When expectations are high, things are likely to go against you,” he added.
Dwarfs became the only club on Match Day one to drop points at home and also failed to score a goal. They will travel to lock horns with Edubiase United on Match Day two at the Len Clay Stadium, scheduled for February 28.
