Old rivals, Emmanuel Tagoe and George Ashie both fight different Filipino opponents on March 27 in a potential dress rehearsal for their much awaited rematch.
Tagoe Asamoah, managed by national football team captain, Asamoah Gyan continues the roadmap to world championship in Accra when he headlines the BabyJet Promotions bill at the Accra Sports Stadium, the same night Ashie will be fighting on same stage.
Tagoe who has won all career fights since losing on his professional debut (23-1, 10 KOs) must overcome 25 year old Joebert Delos Reyes (13-4-1, 10 KOs) of the Philippines for the vacant WBA International Lightweight title.
Ashie (25-4-1, 18 KOs) on the other hand, squares up against a boxer Tagoe previously defeated in Accra in 2013, Ronald Pontillas (17-7-3, 8 KOs), also from the Philippines in a 10-round international Lightweight clash.
A press conference to outline the details of about five other fights on the bill is expected to take place at the Accra Sports Stadium on Tuesday March 3 by BabyJet Promotions in collaboration with Alex Ntiamoah Boakye’s Box Office Sports Promotions.
Also expected to be revealed is BabyJet Promotions’ collaboration with DSTV’s SuperSport to screen the March 27 fights to an estimated 50 countries across the African continent and even beyond.
“Baby Jet Promotions in collaboration with SuperSport, Africa’s premiere sports broadcasters have come to an agreement to jointly host the vacant WBA International Lightweight Championship between Joebert Delos Reyes and Emmanuel Tagoe,” a BabyJet Promotions statement noted.
