Sundowns – Picking Up Points, Scoring Goals

Mamelodi Sundowns find themselves in an incredibly rich vein of form at present, with the club having won 15 of their last 17 matches in all competitions.

Pitso Mosimane’s side are really setting the pace in 2015/16, not only grabbing three points on a regular basis, but also scoring three goals regularly too. They have scored 3+ on nine occasions so far this season, bagging 44 goals in 22 games.

While they are still quite a way short of Chiefs’ incredible 24-game unbeaten run in the league over the 2013/14 and 2014/15 seasons, the Brazilians are without defeat in 13 games in South Africa’s top-flight at present.

Sundowns’ League Form This Season:

Sundowns, alongside Bidvest Wits, have now scored more league goals than any other side in the Absa Premiership (30), while Masandawna have shown their strength at the back by conceding just 11 goals so far. No team in the division has conceded less.

Last night’s 3-0 win over Chippa United was another big win for the club, with in-form Khama Billiat heavily involved once again. The Zimbabwean now has six goals and five assists in his 13 games so far.

While Billiat is the club’s top scorer at present, he is one of 10 different players that have scored for Pitso’s side so far, showing that it’s really been a team effort from them up to now.

Lastly, and a trait that Chiefs managed to use to their benefit in 2014/15, is the fact that once they score, Sundowns win. They have won every single match in which they’ve taken the lead this season so far.
