Medeama coach Tom Strand, who has been heavily linked to Asante Kotoko, claims the Kumasi-based side were right to advise their beleaguered boss David Duncan to step aside after their poor start to the season.
Kotoko have recorded three defeats, one win and two draws in six games, their worst ever start to any season and assistant coach Michael Osei has been appointed to takeover until further notice.
“Duncan had many chances. They gave him a lot of time I think, to fix this and think they have been quite fair to him,” Strand told Starr FM.
“I am also sad on his part that it had to end this way because Kotoko is a team which has some magic around so it is a bit sad though,” he added.
Kotoko are languishing at the bottom of the log with six points and will host Liberty Professionals on Sunday at the Baba Yara Stadium.
It will be the first game under caretaker coach Osei before they travel to Dawu to lock horns with Dreams FC.
