Sports Minister and Chinese Ambassador to inspect Cape Coast Stadium

The Minister for Youth and Sports, Dr. Ahmed Mustapha and the Chinese Ambassador to Ghana, Her Excellency Sun Baohong will on Thursday, December 24 pay their last visit to the site of the newly constructed 16,000 capacity multi sports stadium ahead of the official handing over scheduled for 31st January,2016.

The Christmas eve visit by both governments officials will be their final inspection tour of the edifice and it facilities which is near completion since it ground works in August 2013 except the construction of the flood light to make the facility usable in the evening.

The stadium, a fully sponsored project by the Chinese government cost $35 million to build the 16,000 seater structure including the fully furnished 21 hostel rooms accommodating 2 persons in each room and separate halls for table tennis and boxing. The boxing hall has an available boxing equipment and boxing gym equipment for use according Pulse Sports checks.

There are also 2 basketball courts, 1 handball court and 1 tennis court completed together with the football field and tartan tracks. The stadium has two electricity transformers and a standby industrial plant for power supply.

The Chinese government as part of it measures to ensure proper maintenance of the facility will leave two technicians behind. They would also do refurbishment works of the facility after five years in 2021.
