Nathan Sinkala is staying on at 2015 AFCON to receive treatment from the Zambia medical team.
The midfielder will play no further part at the Africa Cup currently taking place in Equatorial Guinea after sustaining a knee injury in Zambia’s opening Group B match against DR Congo on January 18.
“In medicine we have steps that we follow, not everything had to be done at one go and the next step is probably to do an MRI scan just to complete the whole medical report,” Zambia team physician Dr Joseph Kabungo said.
Dr Kabungo added that it was still early to say when Sinkala will leave Equatorial Guinea.
“He (Sinkala) is a professional football player and probably the club where he is or where he is going to be next will need that information,” Dr Kabungo said.
Sinkala’s departure has left Zambia down to 22 men.
However, Zambia is now also sweating on the fitness of striker Emmanuel Mayuka who sustained a groin injury on January 22 against Tunisia.
