Jordan Ayew will enjoy a huge confidence boost following his impressive display in the derby win over Blues, according to boss Tim Sherwood.
Ayew came on in the second half and was a catalyst, alongside Jack Grealish, in the 1-0 win.
Villa were at stalemate at the break but Ayew and Grealish lit up B6 with a scintillating display.
Fans know all about the qualities of Grealish but have yet to see much of new boy Ayew since his summer move from Lorient.
But the 24-year-old gave them a taste of what he’s about with a performance of panache, passion and polish.
Ayew darted around here, there and everywhere – and gave the visiting defenders no time or space as he ran his socks off in the second 45 minutes.
Sherwood was thrilled with the Gana international – and thinks he will benefit from such a compelling performance.
He told AVTV HD: “I thought Jordan was excellent. He played well.
“We’re only eight games into the season and it’s been – and still is – a settling in period. We have always said that.
“It’s the same with all the boys.
“But that will do Jordan the world of good. I am really delighted with him.”
