Aformer Old Trafford legend has stoked the fires before the Manchester derby, Peter Schmeichel suggesting that watching Pep Guardiola’s style of football is boring.
The Dane, who turned out for both Manchester sides, refused to acknowledge comparisons between the Catalan and Schmeichel’s former coach, Sir Alex Ferguson.
“What he did with Barcelona was fantastic but he got lucky and had the right players to carry out the philosophy he had,’ the former United keeper told Omnisport.
“At Bayern it was good, although, for me, he changed a team that was really good and entertaining for a boring style.
“Sir Alex Ferguson’s priority was to score the highest possible number of goals, the same way that many coaches play.
“With Pep, it’s just possession, and wanting to have the ball as much as possible,” he concluded.
