Giovanni Carnevali, director of Sassuolo, has revealed the club were offered Mario Balotelli but they “refused” the striker.
The Neroverdi were linked with the Liverpool striker earlier this summer, as Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp confirmed there was no place for Balotelli on the team and with Milan opting not to make his loan deal permanent.
“Mino Raiola offered us Balotelli, but we refused,” Carnevali revealed on RaiSport’s Zona11pm show.
“Alejandro Gomez? We asked Atalanta, but they said no.”
Chievo are interested in taking him on loan, but would be unable to pay his current Liverpool salary and would need a contribution from the Reds.
Liverpool are keen to get the 26-year-old, who is still contracted to them for another year, off their books and are looking for a permanent transfer.
