After unexpectedly winning the Malaysian Grand Prix, Daniel Ricciardo suggested that superstition could’ve played a part in the victory, as it may have in his own loss at the Monaco GP.
Lewis Hamilton was well clear of the field with 15 laps to go until his engine blew, allowing the Red Bull driver to claim a maiden title this season.
“It was a very demanding race and I am very tired now, but very happy at the same time,” he said to the crowd during interview on the Sepang podium.
“Lewis was way ahead and I’m not a superstitious person, but I’ll take the win because of what happened at Monaco.
“It’s very exciting to win again two years later.
“I am very grateful to Red Bull and I’m also very happy to have won here, in the presence of my parents and my sister.
“There are so many other people here supporting me and I’m very grateful,” he concluded.
