REPORT: UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE MATCHDAY 5 – (TUESDAY, 24 NOV 2015)

By Prince Dulzy

AS Roma were demolished by the Catalan giants on Tuesday night champions league matchday 5.

Luis Enrique led the Blaugrana at Camp Nou to humiliate their Italian opponents to continue their fine run of form.

Both Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi scored twice, while Gerard Pique and Adriano also went on the score sheet as the European champions cruised to a crushing 6-1 victory over Roma and secured top spot in Group E.

At Emirates Arsenal kept their hopes of Champions League progression alive with a comfortable 3-0 victory over Dinamo Zagreb.

Alexis Sanchez was involved in all three goals, first provided the assist for Mesut Ozil to open the scoring after 29 minutes and then scored a brace to wrap up a vital win for the Gunners.

This win gives Arsene Wenger’s side a chance of reaching the last 16.

Elsewhere, BATE Borisov held Bayer Leverkusen to a 1-1 draw, a shocking error from goalkeeper Bernd Leno allowed Mikhail Gordeichuk to open the scoring with the hosts’ first attack of the match.

At the Allianz-Arena, Bayern Munich strolled to a 4-0 victory over nearest rivals Olympiakos to secure top spot in Group E in emphatic fashion.

Meanwhile, the blues cruised to a comfortable 4-0 win over Maccabi Tel Aviv at the Sammy Ofer Stadium, with goals from Gary Cahill, Willian, Oscar and Kurt Zouma.

Elsewhere, Lyon saw their last chance of qualifying for the Champions League last-16 go up in smoke with a 2-1 defeat at home to Gent, which leaves the French side bottom in Group H.

Andriy Yarmolenko starred as Dynamo Kiev kept alive their hopes of qualifying for the Champions League round of 16 with an impressive 2-0 win at Porto.

Yarmolenko and Derlis Gonzalez grabbed the goals to secure the spoils at Estadio do Dragao, meaning Kiev sit two points behind joint leaders Porto and Chelsea in Group G going into the final matchday next month.

Meanwhile, Zenit made it five wins from five in the Champions League this season with a 2-0 victory over Valencia at the Petrovsky Stadium on Tuesday.

Oleg Shatov’s clever finish handed the Group H leaders the advantage after just 15 minutes and they rarely looked like surrendering it during a diligent display.
