Report: UEFA Champions League Matchday 2 – (Wednesday, 30 Sep 2015)

Yesterday’s UEFA Champions League matches were full of surprises as compared to today’s, however, there were some thrilling moments this evening.

Two of the big guns in England, both from Manchester came from behind to clinch an important three points in their respective match.

Juan Mata scored in the 34th minute to put Man United level after Wolfsburg’s Caligiuri had scored in the 4th minute to put his side in the lead.

Red Devils recovered from an early set back to pick up three points when Smalling scored the winner in the 53rd minute.

Elsewhere, Sergio Aguero broke Borussia Monchengladbach’s hearts from the penalty spot as Manchester City secured a 2-1 comeback win in Champions League Group D on Wednesday.

Stindl had put Borussia Monchengladbach one goal up in the 54th minuted but Man City defender Otamendi equalised for the citizens in the 65th minute.

In Russis, a brace from Seydou Doumbia was enough to help CSKA Moscow overcome 10-man PSV 3-2 for their first points in the Champions League on Wednesday night.

Ahmed Musa opened the scoring in the eighth minute before Doumbia netted his double to put their team into a commanding lead, though the latter missed a penalty.

Meanwhile, Juventus were also able to win at home beating Spanish outfit Sevilla 2-0.

Goals from Alvaro Morata (41′) and Zaza(87′) were enough to secure the Old ladies all three points.

In Sweden, the three-time Ballon d’Or winner, Cristiano Ronaldo reached a personal milestone on Wednesday in Sweden after notching a quincentenary of career goals at just 30-years-old.

Malmo proved stubborn as they frustrated Real Madrid at the Swedbank Stadion.

However, Real Madrid broke the deadlock when Real’s superstar Cristiano Ronaldo scored in the 29th minute to put Real Madrid ahead.

Cristiano Ronaldo equalled Raul’s club goalscoring record as he scored a second goal to in the 90th minute to give Real Madrid a 2-0 win in the Champions League on Wednesday.

Elsewhere, Paris Saint-Germain earned a comfortable 3-0 win at Shakhtar Donetsk on Wednesday to preserve their perfect start to the Champions League.

Serge Aurier got himself on the end of Maxwell’s cross in the seventh minute to put Laurent Blanc’s side in the lead, before being key to his side’s second goal, flicking on a corner for David Luiz to double their advantage.

The game between Astana and Galatasary ended in a 2-2 draw at the Astana Arena.

The shocking results came from Estadio Vicente Calderón when Atletico were defeated 2-1 at home by Portuguese giants Benfica.

Goals from Nicolas Gaitan and Goncalo Guedes secured a surprise 2-1 Champions League win for Benfica over Atletico Madrid as the Portuguese side took early control of Group C.
