Barcelona romped into the Champions League last eight in a cogent 3-1 victory over Arsenal. In what was already being touted as a mere formality, Barcelona seemed determined to prove pundits right.
The fearsome trio was on target yet again as Neymar, Suarez and Messi were on target for all the three goals. Arsenal seemed helpless at times, being shown a glimmer of hope when Elneny managed to score a stunner.
That door shut as soon as it opened as the Catalans added two more to extend their unbeaten run to 38.
Elsewhere, Juventus threw away a two-goal lead and have exited the Champions League, losing the second leg of the round of sixteen 4-2 to Bayern Munich.
Paul Pogba opened the scoring five minutes into the match. After an Alvaro Morata goal was incorrectly called back for offside, Juan Cuadrado doubled the Bianconeri’s advantage in the 27th minute.
Robert Lewandowski breathed life into the home side in the 72nd minute before Thomas Muller brought the teams level at the death. It was all Bayern in extra time, Thiago Alcantara and Kingsley Coman scoring two minutes apart to send the German champions into the quarter finals.
