Ivory Coast coach Herve Renard has tipped Ghana to win the 2017 African Cup of Nations.
Goalkeeper Boubacar Barry scored the decisive goal as Ivory Coast ended a 23-year Africa Cup of Nations title drought by winning 9-8 on penalties after the final ended 0-0 following extra time.
And the Ivorian coach consoled his Ghanaian counterparts, saying the Black Stars can bounce back to win the next AFCON trophy.
“Ghana is a good side and I have had the privilege of working with some of them and I think they will bounce back,” he said post-match.
“This is their second defeat in the final since 2010 while this would have been our third so they may be lucky the next one they are in next time.
“For me I can say I am a lucky church who had the pleasure of working with extra-ordinary group of players.”
The triumph has made Herve Renard the first man to win the tournament with two different countries, doing it first with Zambia in 2012.
