Moulodia Olympique Bejaia captain, Zahir Zerdab has accused the officials of the game led by Burkinabe referee Jean Outtarra and his two assistants, Max Phillipo Toe and Drissa Modeste Sessouma of bias against his side.
Ashantigold defeated the Algerian side by a lone goal that came in the second half from make-shift defender, Tijani Joshua who scored in the 61st minute. The numerical advantage after the sending off by defender, Lakhdari Abdel and the numerous booking against other players are some of the reasons Zerdab thinks officiating on the day was not favourable.
The Algerian international outlined the temperature and officiating as reasons why they lost to Ashgold and not that the miners were superior to them.
He said, “We couldn’t play our best football with the officials ruling against us every decision and in addition to the humidity and temperature it was very tough to leave here (Ghana) with a better result”.
MO Bejaia will host Ashgold in fortnight for the second leg tie in Algeria at the 12,000 capacity stadium named, Stade e L’Unite Maghrebine.
