Hearts of Oak fans expressed their anger after the final whistle of the meeting with Wa All Stars on Sunday, blaming the referee for their 3-1 loss at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Policemen had to intervene to whisk referee Ernest Baafi and his assistants Eric O. Mensah and Freeman Anwulo from the facility when water bottles and sachet packs began to fly from the stands towards the officials.
The fans claimed All Stars’ opening goal should have been ruled offside and that Hearts were denied a clear penalty which could have levelled the score line.
However, coach Kenichi Yatsuhashi accepted blame for the defeat that ended their five-game unbeaten run and promised to bounce back stronger.
Hearts will travel to face Techiman City next weekend.
