Real Madrid ‘to make January move for Jamie Vardy’

Real Madrid are reportedly considering a January bid for Leicester City’s in-form striker Jamie Vardy.

The rumour emanates from Spain’s Fichajes, who claimed this weekend that the Foxes star – who has 10 goals in 10 matches this season – is wanted by Rafa Benitez as a back-up to Karim Benzema.

Describing Vardy as “one of the revelations of the season”, the publication suggest that Real Madrid are in need of another out-and-out centre forward – something which they have been lacking since the departure of Gonzalo Higuain.

They describe Vardy as being “at the peak of his powers” at the age of 28 – while also acknowledging the extraordinary fact that Vardy was playing in the seventh tier of English football just five years ago with Stocksbridge Steels.
