Hearts of Oak majority shareholder and board chairman, Togbe Afede XIV has revealed that since he took over the reign of the Accra giants the best coach he has worked with is Mohammed Polo.
Polo had a short stint with the Phobians during the 2013/14 league season after the sacking of David Duncan.
However, the former player of the club failed to win the supporters heart as he was hugely criticized by some section of the club’s supporters for non-performance.
At the time Duncan was leaving Hearts of Oak, the club was at the second position with 17 games to end the season but Polo finished at the 3rd position, before the end of the season.
But Board chairman of the club, Togbe Afede XIV during club’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) last Wednesday at the International Conference Center revealed that the best coach he has worked with is Mohammed Polo.
“I have worked with many coaches since becoming the Board Chairman of this Club and I can confidently tell you that Mohammed Polo is the best coach I have worked with,” He revealed.
The Majority Shareholder of the club continued: “When Duncan left, no coach was willing to take the job and he came forward wholeheartedly to coach the team, and I was amazed with how best he was able to transform the team in the league.
“He worked under very difficult circumstances and yet was able to deliver.
“I am particularly sad that we as a board failed to allow him to continue with his work as the head coach. Of all the coaches I have worked with, he stands out.
“Polo is a deep thinker and believes in nurturing and grooming young talent for the future, unlike the others who were bent on recruiting more players, most of whom could not even play.”
