Pirlo flies to New York ahead of NYC debut

Italian star Andrea Pirlo has jetted out to America and is expected to make his New York City FC debut on July 26 against OrlandoCity.

The former Juventus midfielder was pictured on the club Twitter account at the airport making his journey to New York, with his introductory press conference on Thursday.

He is expected to make his MLS debut for NYCFC on June 26 at Yankee Stadium against Kaka’s Orlando City.

The World Cup and Champions League winner said his final farewells to his former Juventus team-mates on Monday, ending a glorious four-year spell in Turin.

While the standard may not be as high in the United States, Pirlo will still play alongside some star names, with Frank Lampard and Spanish striker David Villaalso on the books at NYC.
