Phil Neville appointed Valencia assistant

Valencia have confirmed they have appointed Phil Neville as the new assistant to coach Nuno.

Neville has been without a coaching role since leaving Manchester United at the end of David Moyes’ ill-fated stint in charge at Old Trafford.

He heads to Mestalla to replace Ian Cathro, who resigned earlier this month to join Steve McClaren’s backroon team at Newcastle United.

“Phil has great experience at the top competitive level but above all he has very clear knowledge and values that fit our team and our club, the philosophy that we defend: he always was a great club servant,” Nuno told Valencia’s official website.

“We are and we want a strong, organised team, a block. He’s going to help us a lot, I’m convinced.”
