Berekum Chelsea star Kofi Owusu has revealed that Caf Champions League winners TP Mazembe have opened talks with his side for a possible transfer deal.
The 23-year-old old finished the Ghana Premier League season as top scorer, scoring 19 goals to beat Nathaniel Asamoah by a goal.
“I’m ready to play for Mazembe if everything is okay with my counsel and team,” Owusu toldStarr FM.
“Mazembe are talking to Chelsea so I’m waiting for the outcome and hope everything ends successfully,” he said.
Owusu was previously linked with a move to Ghana champions Ashantigold but the deal is likely to hit a snag after disagreement on transfer fee.
“Chelsea are not happy with the conduct of Ashantigold,” a source told Goal. “They wanted to buy him but Chelsea want a loan deal plus a fee. That has been the challenge. Now if Mazembe step up their bid, Owusu is likely to sign for them,” the source said added.
Owusu will have the opportunity to exhibit his worth to Mazembe when Ghana’s Dream Team takes the African champions in the Mo Ibrahim Governance Cup on November 29 at the Accra Sports Stadium.
