Governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha has approved the payment of all outstanding salaries to players and staff, Sports5050 understands.
Governor Okorocha directed the new management of Heartland to ensure that all outstanding salaries till December are paid.
The team’s media officer, Solomon Onu, appealed for patience from the team’s staff, officials and players, promising the payment will commence soonest.
According to Onu, the members of the immediate past management are expected to submit all club property and documents in their possession as partial requirement for collection of their pay.
“We urge all club members and staff to remain calm as the Governor has released funds for the payment of at least two months salaries to everyone. We wish you the best of the season and a good year ahead,” he concluded.
Heartland finished in seventh position in the 2014/15 season.
