Neymar to Brazil coach Dunga: ‘I’m not willing to get used to being benched’

Brazil forward Neymar has made it clear to Brazil coach Dunga that he is not prepared to accept being a substitute after he was benched for the win over Costa Rica.

Brazil beat Costa Rica 1-0 in New Jersey on Saturday but the revamped team of the five-times world champions failed to impress in their penultimate friendly before next month’s World Cup qualifiers.

Only two players remained from the side that lost the Copa America quarter-final to Paraguay in July and Neymar was left on the substitutes’ bench.

The Barcelona star was not happy about being confined to the sideline and his belated introduction as a late replacement did not placate him.

” Being benched is not something I’m used to and I’m not willing to get used to it,” Neymar told ESPN.”

” I want to play and I’m always working to be amongst the starting XI.””

The 23-year-old has only recently recovered from mumps and had to watch on as Hulk scored the only goal of the game after 10 minutes against Costa Rica.
