CHELSEA officials are jetting to Italy to secure the signing of Godfred Donsah.

The 19-year-old midfielder is on Jose Mourinho’s wish list after a slugging start to the season.

Chelsea have taken just one point from their opening two games and cracks have begun to appear.

And the Portuguese is keen to re-energise his squad with a move for Donsah.

According to reports in the Italian media, Chelsea are in the ‘front row’ to sign Cagliari’s high rated young midfielder.

A host of Italian clubs – AC Milan, Juventus, Fiorentina and Bologna – have shown an interest in the 19-year-old young midfielder, but Calciomercato claim Premier League clubs Chelsea and Tottenham emerge as strong candidates to sign him.

The Ghana born Cagliari star moved to Italy in 2012, joining Palermo before a loan spell at Verona.

He joined Cagliari in 2014 with whom he has a contract till 2020 and is thought to be valued at £10million.

He has been described as the “new Michael Essien”.
