Moroccan referee to handle Ghana-Mozambique clash

Moroccan referee Bouchaib El Ahrach will officiate the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier between Ghana and Mozambique on March 24.

Scheduled for 15:30 GMT at the Accra Sports Stadium, the Black Stars will take on their Mozambican counterparts in a Group H encounter, three days before the return leg in the Southeast African nation.

El Ahrach, to be assisted by compatriots Redouane Achik and Mouhib Abdallah Filali, was the centre-man when the Black Stars handed Egypt a 6-1 shellacking in the 2014 Fifa World Cup qualifying play-off at the Baba Yara Stadium, Kumasi in 2013.

Ghana currently lead the group with six points after two round of matches, while the Os Mambas are yet to pick up a point, having lost to Rwanda (1-0) and Mauritius (1-0) in their opening two matches.

The Black Stars thrashed Mauritius 7-1 in their first game before picking a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Rwanda courtesy of a Mubarak Wakaso strike.

The 2017 Africa Cup of Nations finals is slated for Gabon.
