Berekum Chelsea goalkeeper Michael Sai and defender Paul Aidoo have joined Medeama SC for the new season as coach Tom Strand seeks to strengthen his squad to participate in the Caf Confederation Cup.
Medeama have lost centre-back Evans Quao to Asante Kotoko and midfielder Tetteh Zutah to Tanzanian giants Young Africans. They have also released goalkeeper Foli Adade, defenders Kofi Agyare and Ebenezer Adjei.
However, coach Strand is happy with the acquisition of the two new players.
“Michael Sai and Paul Aidoo have both signed for Medeama from Chelsea,” a source told Sports5050.
“Sai will have to compete for a starting role with Muntari Tagoe. Coach Tom Strand is very happy with Sai and Aidoo’s acquisition because he believes they’ll bring competition into the team especially in the Caf Confederation Cup,” the source added.
Aidoo played 20 league games last season for Chelsea, scoring one goal and providing two assists while Sai played 20 games as well.
Medeama have already signed Enoch Atta Agyei and Patrick Opoku from Windy Professionals and Bechem United. The Tarkwa-based club won the 2015 Ghana FA Cup and finished 11th on the league log with 41 points.
