Medeama have dismissed media reports linking coach Tom Strand to an exit following the side’s faltering start to the 2015-16 Ghana Premier League.
With two defeats after two rounds of games, the Yellow and Mauves currently find themselves on 15thposition, having lost 3-2 to Ashanti Gold in their opener and 2-1 at home to Hearts of Oak on Sunday.
“Medeama would like to deny widespread media reports that the future of coach Tom Strand has been discussed,” a statement read.
“The club makes it clear that Strand has our full support. As Tom Strand has said himself, results have not been good enough and the team’s performance must improve.
“However, we believe that we have the right coach to turn the season around, and that he has the squad with which to do it.
“We are disappointed with our unflattering start to the Premier League but we remain resolute behind our coach and the players to turn things around. All speculations must be disregarded.”
Strand guided the Tarkwa-based side to clinch gold in the 2015 FA Cup, beating giants Asante Kotoko in a thrilling final.
The cup competition success also confirmed the outfit as Ghana’s representatives in the 2016 Caf Confederations Cup where they have been drawn to face the winner of the Al-Ittihad-AS SONIDEP encounter in the first round later this month.
