Medeama SC coach Tom Strand believes his team is yet to show their real worth in the CAF Confederation Cup. The Tarkwa based side beat Sudanese side Al Shendy 2-0 on Wednesday to qualify for the play-offs of the continental competition.
The Swedish is coaching a young team with no experience in continental football except for five out of his thirty registered players. But his players have delivered the results while showing the promise for improvement.
With two challenges surmounted already by Medeama over Al Ittihad of Libya and Al Shendy, Tom Strand intimates that his players are warming up into the Confederation Cup.
“They are getting warm in their shoes now, me too is the first time am in this competition so I think we are in the right direction” he toldPulse.com.gh.
He also revealed three players who have higher marks in his books than the rest of the team but he says his team altogether have been good.
“Abass Mohammed is doing a fantastic work, Kwame Boahene, Paul Aidoo is doing fantastic. All of them are good but small plus for them (the three) above the others”.
Abass and Boahene scored two first half goals against Al Shendy to send the FA Cup winners to the final qualifying stage before the group phase competition.
And Tom Strand adjudged their performance as their best so far.
“I have to say that this have to be the best match we’ve played so far. We play attacking football so we try to score. Two fantastic goals and am really happy, we played good football today I think especially in the first half. In second half I think sometimes we rushed it a bit but still we played good football and created good chances so I am satisfied, very satisfied” he said.
