A bright start to life at Nice for Mario Balotelli has given hope to the striker’s old boss Roberto Mancini, who has already been stung by the wayward career of one talented forward.
Adriano showed great promise at Parma and Inter before losing focus and being discarded by the Italian coach in 2007.
“Balotelli is just 26 but it can pass you by so fast, you cannot allow someone to waste the talent that the Lord has given him,” Mancini told L’Equipe.
“I remember Adriano, who was also at Inter, he’d have been world class but ended up way off. Balotelli has better technical qualities, though.”
Despite falling out with the enigmatic striker at Manchester City, the former midfielder wants to see him succeed in Ligue 1.
“He’s a good guy with a big heart,” Mancini went on, “in my opinion he was always respectful. Sometimes he can get a bit nervous but it is impossible not to wish him well.
“I am very happy for him, because it’s going well at Nice.”
