Guinea captain Ibrahima Traore put in an excellent performance to help his side earn a 1-1 draw against Cameroon in their second Group D match at the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations.
After going behind to an early goal from the Indomitable Lions’ Benjamin Moukandjo, Syli Nationale were forced to fight back and they did exceptionally well to impose themselves against the powerful Cameroonians.
None more so than Traore, who should have equalised with an opportunity in the 35th minute only to be denied by Fabrice Ondoua, but the Guinea skipper made up for his mistake with a superb equaliser in the 42nd minute.
After a sharp turn outside the box from Traore, there still seemed little danger to Cameroon’s posts – that was until the midfielder unleashed a powerful left-footed shot that flashed past the outstretched left hand of Ondoua and crashed into the bottom corner to make it 1-1.
Traore continued to be a thorn in the Cameroon defence’s side until he was finally substituted in injury time, having put in a tireless display that epitomised his team’s fighting spirit.
