Highly-rated Ghana teen star Majeed Ashimeru has joined Portuguese side Rio Ave for trials.
The playmaker emerged one of the revelations of the just ended First Capital Plus Premier League where he featured in 25 games and scored twice for academy side WAFA SC.
Ashimeru who turns 18 in October will be training with the Portuguese Primiera League side for the next three to four weeks and this opportunity, the youngster is hoping to impress the club’s manager.
“I just completed a very good season with my club WAFA. It was my first time playing at the highest level in Ghana (the FCPPL). It was a challenging one because I had not played even in the second division before but things generally went well for me,” he told supersport.com in an exclusive chat.
“Now I have been given a shot at Rio Ave, to express myself here and hopefully earn a deal. I’m here to give my hest because I wil want to stay and get into the first team,” Ashimeru added.
Rio Ave currently have compatriot Alhassan Wakaso in their first team.
