Leicester City winger, Riyad Mahrez, put his name in the folklore of English top-flight by becoming the first Algerian to score a hat-trick in the Barclays Premier League at the weekend.
Mahrez scored three times on Saturday as Leicester City hit Swansea for three at the Liberty Stadium.
The hat-trick of the 24-year-old swelled the number of nationalities who have scored three in a single game in the BPL to 41.
The treble by Mahrez on Saturday also makes Algeria the eighth African country to be listed as hat-trick scorers in the BPL. The others are Ivory Coast, Nigeria, Cameroon, Senegal, Togo, Zimbabwe and DR Congo.
According to the Daily Mail, the Leicester City man’s hat-trick is the 288th in the 23-year history of the Premier League.
The feat also makes Mahrez the 156th player to score a hat-trick in England’s top division.
Ivory Coast and Nigeria are the African countries with most hat-tricks in the Premier League since 1992.
