Baba ‘John’ Mahama has been named Techiman City Player for the month of March after his wonderful showing in the Ghana Premier League.
The 19-year-old midfielder beat competitions from other first team players upon a final decision from the club’s technical team.
Mahama played every minute in all three matches in the month under review, scoring one goal and providing two assists. They won 1-0 over Aduana Stars on matchday three before losing 1-0 to Liberty Professionals at Carl Reindolf and wrapping it up with a home win over Dreams FC.
“I’m very happy with this award because it’s every player’s dream to be recognised after putting in his best,” Mahama told Goal.
“My aim for the season is to help the club survive relegation, since it’s our first ever season in the top-flight. Any other achievements that will come my way after the season will be taken as a bonus to our hard work,” he added.
He was presented with a hamper by the club’s chief executive officer Kofi Manu, containing items from their headline sponsors Samara Pharmacy and an undisclosed amount.
Techiman, currently fourth on the log with nine points, will travel to Obuasi to play Edubiase United at the Len Clay Stadium on Saturday.
