Top seed Madison Keys has been forced to withdraw from the Coupe Banque Nationale with a wrist injury.
A raft of seeds exited the tournament earlier this week, including Mona Barthel, Tatjana Maria and An-Sophie Mestach, leaving the draw wide open for the American.
However, Keys – who has won one WTA title in her career – pulled out of her first-round match against Anna Tatishvili in Quebec City.
A post on her official Facebook page read: “I am really disappointed to have to withdraw from the Coupe Banque Nationale.
“I hurt my wrist in practice in the last few days and unfortunately am unable to compete. I was looking forward to playing for the Quebec City fans and hope to come back next year.”
