Louis van Gaal named coach of the year

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has been named the coach of the year in Netherlands at a Dutch Sports Gala after leading the Dutch National team to the semi-final of the 2014 FIFA World Cup tournament in Brazil.

Van Gaal picked up his award at the Sports Gala in Amsterdam on Tuesday night with his Manchester United striker Robin van Persie also picking an award.

The Manchester United striker’s goal against Spain was named as the Dutch sports moment of the year 2014.

Bayern Munich’s Arjen Robben was named the sportsman of the year with 17-year-old driver Max Verstappen winning the young talent award.

Louis van Gaal left the Dutch senior national team for English Premier League side Manchester United and seems to have found his feet with recent results after the Red Devils won six consecutive games.
