World champion Lewis Hamilton has withdrawn from Thursday’s Formula One testing in Barcelona after complaining of feeling unwell.
The Mercedes driver managed 11 laps on the opening day of the second pre-season testing session but was forced to call time at the Barcelona-Catalunya Circuit.
Reserve driver Pascal Wehrlein will assume Hamilton’s place for the remainder of the event, with the German having previously been due to test with Force India.
“An unplanned stoppage keeping us off track at the moment. @LewisHamilton is unwell and not able to continue driving today,” Mercedes confirmed on Twitter.
“So we’re just adjusting the car for Pascal Wehrlein to take to the track this afternoon.”
“We’ve borrowed him back from our friends @ForceIndiaF1. Thanks guys! “
