Ghana midfielder Kwadwo Asamoah will go under the knife in Barcelona today (Tuesday) to correct a niggling knee injury.
Dr Ramon Cugat will carry out the arthroscopic surgery and it is aimed at repairing a cartilage in his left knee after complaining of pains.
The 25-year-old suffered the injury during Juventus’ 3-2 win over Olympiacos on 4 November and aggravated it when he played through the pain barrier against Empoli.
Asamoah will be sidelined for about two months which means he will not have recovered when the Africa Cup of Nations starts in Equatorial Guinea on 17 January.
His absence means the Black Stars will be without its most creative midfielder as they seek to win a first African title since 1982.
