Kurt Okraku is optimistic that Ashanti Gold can make it to the next stage of the CAF Champions if they believe in themselves ahead of the 2 leg encounter against M.O Bejaia.
The Miners defeated their Algerian counterpart by a goal to nil at the Len Clay Sports Stadium, Obuasi, thanks to Tijani Joshua’s lone goal in the 61 minute.
North African clubs have been a torn in the flesh of clubs from Ghana in African Inter Club Competitions, most especially Algerian clubs and the statistics are that only one Ghanaian club has managed to knock out an Algerian side in 11 elimination games in Africa.
Kurt Okraku believes Ghanaian clubs have a negative mentality playing against clubs from North Africa and has stated that Ashgold can turn the tide in their favour this time around should they believe they can overcome the Bejaia hurdle.
“The problem with most clubs from Ghana is that they have a negative mentality playing against North African oppositions.
“However, I think Ashgold will topple M.O Bejaia if they believe that they can do it,” he told Happy FM.
The Ghana champions will face M.O bejaia in the 2 leg on 28 February, 2016 in Algeria.
