Asante Kotoko striker Dauda Mohammed has been ruled out of action for up to three weeks following an injury picked up during his side’s 2-0 win over Bechem United in the Akwasidaɛ Cup on Sunday.
The 18-year-old striker suffered an ankle sprain few minutes after scoring from the spot to increase their lead after Akwasi Nti’s opener.
Adzeko Mandela, who was promoted from the youth team, was also stretched off.
The Porcupine Warriors communication director Kwaku Ahenkorah confirmed Dauda’s injury layoff.
“This is an update on the injury situation of Dauda Mohammed and Adzeko Mandela after the friendly match against Bechem United,” Ahenkora told the club’s website.
According to the medical team, Dauda is expected to be out for two to three weeks with an ankle sprain. Mandela, with a hamstring injury, is expected to be out for two weeks,” he added.
Dauda is aiming to win the goal king award for the new season after finishing as Kotoko’s second top scorer last term with eight goals.
