Defending Ghana League Champions, Asante Kotoko have missed the chance to play a high profile international friendly with Sevilla here in Ghana.
The Spanish side have called off the friendly amid fears that their players and officials could contract the Ebola disease when they travel to Africa for the game next month.
Kotoko was seeking to use this game in keeping their players in shape following the delay in the start of the first capital plus premier league has expressed disappointment at the situation.
“Playing Sevilla would have been a great achievement and enhance Kotoko’s image but what can we do, the opportunity is gone and we don’t have to cry over it because when one door closes another opens,” Said Opoku Nti, acting Chief Executive Officer of Kotoko.
“There is no Ebola in Ghana but for them it is not about from Togo to Togo or Ghana teams playing together, a white man is a white man and for them they are not talking about Ghana but Africa, they are afraid and that is all.” Story by Ghana/Joy Sports/Benedict Owusu
