“We want to make the Group phase first, then we can see how to move on,” Opoku Nti
The acting General Manager of Asante Kotoko Opoku Nti says the club’s short term target is to reach the group stage of neaxt season’s CAF Champions League.
The Porcupiine Warriors have set a long-term target of winning the 2014 CAF Champions League, but Nti beieves they are looking at a place in the money zone.
Nti told supersport: “Playing in the CAF Champions League is a responsibility for us as champions of Ghana.”
“Our patron the Asantehene and fans have always tasked us to go and reclaim the trophy we’ve won before years back so we will definitely be making another attempt come next year.”
“The expectation is always high whenever we enter the competition but unfortunately, we somehow get eliminated in the early stages,” he added.
“My management has been tasked to win the competition but realistically, we want to make the Group phase first, then we can see how to move on. We have beefed up our squad with eleven new players and technical team is working at blending an efficient team for the task ahead,” the Kotoko chief asserts.
Kotoko are two-time Africa Club Cup winners. They won the double – League and FA Cup – during the 2013/14 Ghanaian season.
