Asante Kotoko CEO Opoku Nti is confident his side will secure an emphatic win against Aduana Stars in their title defence opener on 18 January.
Kotoko have played high profile pre-season matches including a 0-0 draw with Togolese champions AC Semassa and a 2-0 win over AS Port.
This the second consecutive time the Porcupine Warriors will be playing the 2010 champions in their first match of the season.
Last season, Kotoko beat Aduana 2-1 at the Sunyani Coronation Park due to a Ghana FA ban but lost at the corresponding fixture 2-0 at Dormaa on the final day of competition.
Head coach Mas-Ud Dramai’s side have been forced to cut short their festive break to return to camp following announcement that the league will start early next month.
“We are taking it a game at a time and I believe that we are all relieved to finally have our league back,” Kotoko CEO Opoku Nti told GHANASoccernet.com
“We have to begin very well and the guys understand that we cannot afford to take our eyes off the goal.
“We will look to take it on the high from the first day.”
